Furniture for a narrow hallway or entrance
A hallway needs at least 70–80 cm clear to walk through with shopping bags. Most flats have hallways 90 to 110 cm wide, so the furniture can be 15 to 30 cm deep. Measure the hallway at its narrowest point, usually by a door or a radiator.
Shallow shoe cabinets
Shoe cabinets with tilt-out drawers store shoes at an angle and are 15–25 cm deep. Check that the open drawer does not hit the door opposite.

Console tables and hallway units
A 25–30 cm deep console table gives room for keys and post. A hallway unit with coat rack and bench needs more, 35–40 cm, only for hallways of 110 cm or wider.

Up the wall
If nothing fits on the floor, a 10–15 cm deep shelf and a mirror make the hallway feel bigger without taking up space.
